Mission Statement

The mission of the Missoula Youth Court is to provide fair, impartial and equitable treatment for young people experiencing legal difficulties while assisting both the youth and their care giver(s) in navigating the juvenile court system. Youth Court strives to provide quality supervision of juveniles charged with offenses by offering individually developed case plans consistent with the philosophy of restorative justice grounded in evidence-based research. Utilizing the "Balanced Approach", each case plan addresses multiple areas of consideration, including protection of the community, victim empathy and restoration, accountability, and individual competency development.

Vision Statement

Missoula Youth Court's mission is guided by our vision of a safe, fair and equitable community where respect and dignity are at the forefront of our agency interactions. To this end, Missoula Youth Court approaches all interventions by means of the “least restrictive environment” whenever possible by making every attempt to continually deliver requisite services in settings which maximize family connection, facilitate treatment goals and promote peer-based support. By utilizing a vast array of service opportunities, (counseling, community service, psychiatric and psychological evaluations and treatment as well as vocational and competency development opportunities) those youth served by the Missoula Youth Court have opportunity to recognize and direct their ability to change by discovering and employing their individually unique strengths.
